It’s funny how life has a way of pulling us in different directions. Somewhere between work, family, and everyday chaos, I stepped away from one of the things that brought me the most peace, soap making. What started as “a short break” somehow turned into months (okay, maybe years) away from my craft. But recently, something inside me said, it’s time to come back.
And so I did.
The first time I picked up my oils again — olive, coconut, sunflower — it felt like coming home. The familiar scents, the soft hum of the stick blender, the swirl of colors in the mold… everything reminded me why I fell in love with soap making in the first place. There’s a kind of magic in turning simple ingredients into something beautiful and nourishing for the skin.
Coming back after so long wasn’t without its challenges. My first few batches weren’t perfect (let’s just say I got a little too excited with the fragrance oil). But instead of frustration, I felt gratitude because even the imperfections reminded me that creativity is a process, not a performance.
This time around, I’m approaching soap making with a fresh perspective. I’m focusing more on natural ingredients, experimenting with botanicals and clays, and allowing myself the space to create without pressure. It’s not just about making soap anymore, it’s about reconnecting with the joy and mindfulness that come with it.
If you’ve ever taken a break from something you love, know that it’s okay to start again. Your passion will wait for you. The skills will return. And who knows? You might come back stronger, more inspired, and more creative than ever.
Here’s to new beginnings, fresh batches, and the sweet satisfaction of doing what we love.
